Rules

To make sure this is a fun and safe event for both people and dogs, we ask for your help in following a few rules.  We want you to look forward to coming back to the Square year after year.

CAPITAL K-9S DOGS ON THE SQUARE RULES OF PARTICIPATION

All dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations and should be licensed.  Also,

  • All dogs must be on-leash at all times unless a Challenge activity temporarily requires otherwise.
  • An adult must accompany children under 14 years old with a dog.
  • No dogs with open cuts or communicable diseases allowed.
  • No aggressive dogs — aggressive dogs will be immediately removed with no refunds.
  • No dogs in heat allowed.
  • You must clean up immediately after your dog. All dog waste must be deposited into dog-waste barrels only. No dog waste allowed in general trashcans.

Please make every effort to have your dog relieve himself/herself before entering the Event. If your dog needs relief at the Event, please try to use the Piddle Stops we provide.

Additional tips to protect your dog:

*  Watch for over-exertion and dehydration in your dog. Downtown businesses will be offering watering spots.
*  Please do not give other dogs treats without their handler’s permission.
*  Please dispense treats to your dog discreetly to avoid fights with other dogs.
*  Have your dog wear their DOGS ON THE SQUARE Bandana so we know they are registered to participate.

For information about licensing your dog in the City of Madison, visit www.ci.madison.wi.us.
